MANAS FILMES is an independent production company headed by two Brazil-based partners & sisters passionate about film and television, Bel Berlinck and Joana Cooper. Developing original IPs and acquiring both domestic and international content, they thrive on stories that matter, engage, and excite. With long individual experience of producing quality series and movies, they've joined forces to trail their own path with the same excellency, an attentive eye for innovation, transparency, and creative freedom for their partners, to produce original and impactful pieces of work.

Bel Berlinck

BEL BERLINCK is a founding partner of MANAS FILMES. From the years 2001 until 2023 she was a partner-producer of the cinema nucleus of O2 Filmes, producing a number of internationally acclaimed films and series, such as the feature film Marighella by Wagner Moura; Blindness by Fernando Meirelles; and City of God by Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund, indicated in four categories for the Oscar in 2004. She produced the series New Bandits and September Mornings for Amazon Prime Video; Brotherhood for Netflix; Joint Venture, Vale dos Esquecidos and Psi for HBO Max, and Second Call for TV Globo. Also producing the movies Trash by Stephen Daldry; Zoom by Pedro Morelli; Xingu by Cao Hamburger; Malasartes e o Duelo com a Morte by Paulo Morelli; and Adrift by Heitor Dhalia, being selected for exhibition at Un Certain Regard, of the 62nd Cannes Film Festival. Amongst other documentary films, she was the producer of Exodus - Where I Come from Is Disappearing by Hank Levine, and Ópera Aberta - Pescadores de Perolas by Carlos Nader, indicated for the Emmy 2019.

Joana Cooper

JOANA COOPER together with Bel Berlinck, is a founding-partner of MANAS FILMES. With more than twenty years experience in the audio-visual market, she was line producer for the series September Mornings for Amazon Prime Video; Second Call for TV Globo; Joint Venture for HBO Max; and Americana for Star+. She was an executive producer for Primo Filmes in 2017, and was director of the tv programme of TRIP magazine, also coordinating the audio-visual department for the publishers. For ten years she was an assistant director on feature films, publicity and series such as Sound & Fury and Blindness by Fernando Meirelles, Not by Chance by Phillipe Barcinski; Meu Nome não é Johnny by Mauro Lima. She also directed programmes for the television channels GNT and MTV.
